Home Network Pictures

I've posted pictures of my home network in the photos section.  I've wanted to create my own network like this for a very long time, and I'm happy to say it's finished for the present time.  I wouldn't dare say it's done because I don't think it ever will be.  The most important thing I've learned from this project is that no matter how much work and how many hours I put into it, there will always be something more to add-on.  And even if there's only one thing left, by the time you finish that, there will be something newer and "better".  On an unlimited budget, the most you could hope for is to have the most advanced system for a couple of months.

As satisfied as I am with the network I've built, it's flat-out depressing that no matter how great it is now, it will be outdated and un-impressive 1, 2 or 3 years at the most from now.  And in my case, make that 3 months when Server 2008 is released!  Do I even feel like upgrading?  Not at the moment.  Is it necessary?  No.  But is my current setup necessary?  No.  Will I want it?  Yes.  Why?  To be the latest and greatest.  Which is fun, but with the way technology changes thesedays, I don't know if it's worth the effort.

... who am I kidding?  My feelings are always fleeting.  I'll forget all about this and get caught up in the hype of the new features and all the great benefits and probably spend all of March upgrading to 2008.
